Barrister and Mann

Barrister and Mann | Fougère Classique Shaving Soap

$35

Based on the original formula for the legendary Fougère Royale, Fougère Classique began life as one of our very first aftershave splashes, but, despite repeated requests from its fans, it never received the full shaving soap treatment that many felt was its due. That is, until now.

Fougère Classique is a richly floral, stunningly opulent assemblage of lavender, oakmoss, coumarin, bergamot, geranium, jasmine, ylang ylang, benzoin, labdanum, patcuouli, heliotrope, musk, and vanilla. Radiantly retro and timelessly sophisticated, this is a fragrance crafted for royals and nobles, a design that can be best characterized by its original creator, perfumer Paul Parquet:

If God had given ferns a scent, they would smell like Fougère Royale.

OK Shave, scent is mid, worse than other B&M

This one is not my favourite from B&M. The scent is very reminiscent of baby powder (even my wife commented), and the shaving performance isn't as great as I'm used to. Seville is my all time favourite soap so this is dissapointing.

Good but Powdery

The performance of this soap and any other in the Barrister and Mann Omnibus base is really top notch. The soap lathers super easy. Can take tons of water and really holds up with all water types (soft or hard). Post shave feel is great and the soap provides strong slickness.

The scent is good but I find it to be very powdery. I pick up some of the floras and fern but to my nose it’s a big hit of powder. I do not have a lot of other classic powdery scents so this one works great in my collection but something to keep in mind if that’s not your thing.

For people that have been shaving for years it will definitely remind you of scents from time gone by.
